Chest HRM Battery: How Long It Lasts and How to Replace the CR2032

← Back to the full Chest HRM help & support guide

The Powr Labs Chest HRM runs on a single CR2032 coin battery, pre-installed and good for 300+ hours of training, which works out to roughly six months to a year depending on how often you use it. There is nothing to charge. When it finally runs down, replacing it takes about a minute with a coin.

Which battery you need

One standard CR2032 coin battery — the common, widely available kind you'll find at any store. Lasts about 10 months with regular use.

Signs it's low

Jumpy readings, dropped connections, or no light when you put it on. Time for a fresh one.

How to change the battery

1

Find the round battery door on the back of the sensor.

2

Use a coin to twist the door counter-clockwise until it pops out.

3

Take out the old battery and set it aside for recycling.

4

Put in the new CR2032 the right way — match the + / − marks.

5

Twist the door clockwise to lock it shut.

6

Put the monitor on to test — the light should flash.

Keep batteries away from children. Recycle used CR2032 batteries following your local guidelines.

Quick answers

How long does the battery last, and which one is it?

About 300+ hours of training on one standard CR2032 coin battery, available at most stores. Most athletes see six months to a year between changes.

Is the battery included?

Yes. The monitor ships with a CR2032 pre-installed, so you can pair it straight out of the box.

Can I use a rechargeable CR2032?

Rechargeable LIR2032 cells run at a higher voltage and slightly different thickness; stick with a standard CR2032 for a reliable fit and signal.

Does the light stay on to show the battery is good?

No. The logo light only flashes for about 20 seconds at pairing and then turns off to save power. See what the pairing light means.

Free replacement batteries

If you need a replacement battery during your first 12 months of ownership, email support@powr-labs.com with your order number and we will send one at no charge. After that, any CR2032 from a grocery store, pharmacy or hardware store works; pick a name brand for the longest life.

Tips for longer battery life

  • Unclip the sensor from the strap after each session. With the pads dry and off your skin it is asleep, but a damp strap in a gym bag can keep it awake.
  • Rinse and hang the strap to dry; a sweaty strap stored damp slowly discharges the battery through the electrodes.
  • If readings get jumpy or the logo light stops flashing when you put it on, replace the battery before assuming anything else is wrong.
