Works well and is thinner than other brands I've tried

Using this on an eMTB (Trek Rail 9.7 for reference). Had another common brand (Moo) that I was using on my previous bike, but on my new one the space between the crank arms and the bike frame is narrower and the sensor couldn't pass between them. Flipping that sensor around it was hard to find a spot on the crank arm where my shoe wouldn't hit it (and that is in fact how I lost that sensor). With the Powr Labs sensor, it's a bit thinner and fits between the crank arm and frame without any issues.

Got this for use on my trainer. Connected to Polar Grit without issue. Simple install.

Works with peloton app

I first bought a Wahoo sensor. It didn’t work. They sent me two more sensors and they didn’t work. Sent several emails to wahoo tech support - still didn’t work. Bought the powr labs and it worked right away. And it is $15 cheaper than the wahoo sensor.

Really small cadence AND cheaper than Wahoo Cadence

I bought a Powr Labs heart rate monitor chest strap about 1.5 years ago as part of my New Year's resolution to lose weight, and here I am at it again trying to get rid of my COVID-19-induced weight gain. Working out outside is my preferred way to get some fitness in, and biking is fun. My Santa Cruz Heckler mountain bike does not come with a speed or rotation-per-minute (RPM) cadence sensor, however, and so I had relied on my Samsung Galaxy Watch and smartphone app to get an estimate of my workouts. So, I started looking for a cadence sensor and was about to buy the Wahoo one until I saw that Powr Labs came out with one. It had zero reviews at the time I bought it. Should I try it? Well, their HRM strap gave my broken Garmin a good run for its money, so, I went ahead and got one.

PROS
- Really small. Dare I say that it is "cute"?
- Less expensive and much smaller than Wahoo
- Mounts the same way as the Wahoo
- Worked with my Garmin, Strava, Polar, and even Wahoo's own apps due in part to its compatibility with the ANT+ and Bluetooth standards
- LED light to indicate that it is on
- US-based company and support
- IP67 water resistance
-- Cadence can be dropped into water for up to

Bring some fun back into your old spin bike -- Wahoo, Zwift, etc.

The powr-labs CADENCE sensor attaches nicely to the inside of one of the two pedals. You can quickly test it with the wahoo app on your android phone/tablet. The app also runs on iPhone, Mac and Windows. The sensor came with plenty of o-ring style bands, a 3M double-sided sticky tape and a retaining clip.

Why I did not give this product five stars:
With a quick shake, the sensor should blink blue right above the white dot that has the Bluetooth and ANT+ symbol. The sensor came with a dead CR2032 battery. I had to buy a new one and open the case to replace the one it came with.

I would also recommend a powr-labs SPEED sensor and a power-labs Heart Rate Monitor for this project.

Can't Open Case to Change Battery

I have no problems changing a CR2032 battery, but after several attempts to open the case, it didn't open up and I'm concerned how much force to use. We have several cadence sensors and can at least change the battery in those. The Powr Labs cadence sensor did work properly after attaching to the bike, even though I did not see light flashing after shaking the sensor. Instructions do not suggest how to open the case, and this problem seems to be a common complaint in the reviews.

Should not have a LOW BATTERY right of the box

Well, it connected to my garmin venu super easily, and well I'd like to say it works well because the BATTERY WAS LOW RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.

I thought I could get Maybe a quick ride out of it to check the accuracy vs my proform bike, but alas...it only made it 5 minutes and is completely dead.

So now i have to make an unnecessary trip to town to buy a battery for something that is brand new and that I bought online and waited over a week for so that I didn't have to go town.....

Ridiculous

Impossible to open to replace battery. Completely died less than 6 months later.

I got this in the middle of June 2022. I barely used it (maybe less than a dozen times). Tried using it again after 2 months of not using it at all. The battery seemed dead as no light indicator would come on after shaking it. It was nearly impossible to open the tracker in order to replace the battery. After reaching out to customer support, they told me to use a screwdriver or a nail picker, which they said another customer was successful using. How odd! They don't officially have an easy way to open the device and have resorted to telling other customers to use tools that another customer used. After breaking 4 nails, I was finally able to pop open the device with a metal nail picker. However, after replacing with a brand new battery it still doesn't work! It lit up for a few seconds and went dead again and won't pair. Now I can't get the device to open again in order to retrieve the brand new batter, even using the nail picker. I've spent way too much time on this useless device. I'm regretting trying to save $ by buying this off brand. Should have spent more on a well known brand. What a waste of time and $.

Questions

Before you buy

Does it work with Peloton?

Yes, with the Peloton app on a spin bike, road bike or trainer that does not report its own cadence. Peloton Bikes and Bike+ measure cadence natively, so you do not need an extra sensor there.

How do I install it?

Three options: strap it to the crank arm with the bracket and one of the sized bands (removable, swaps between bikes), stick it flush to the crank with the 3M adhesive mount (semi-permanent), or mount it on your cycling shoe with the elastic band so it follows you from bike to bike.

How do I pair it?

Spin the crank or give the sensor a shake and the blue pairing light starts flashing. Open the sensors menu in your app or bike computer, add a cadence sensor, and select Powr Labs. Pair once and it reconnects automatically on every ride.

What battery does it use and how long does it last?

A replaceable lithium coin cell, installed and ready to ride out of the box. Expect up to 6 months of regular riding before you swap it.

Can I use it on a spin bike or stationary bike?

Yes. The crank bracket fits most crank arms on indoor bikes, and the shoe mount works on any bike at all, including bikes with enclosed cranks.

Is it waterproof?

Yes. It is sealed to IP67, so rain, puddles, mud and sweat are fine indoors or out.

Does it measure speed too?

No, this is a dedicated cadence sensor. For wheel speed, add the Powr Labs bike speed sensor on the hub.

What is the warranty and return policy?

12-month no-questions-asked warranty and 30-day returns, with USA-based support in Park City, Utah.
